| NEWPORT, R.I. USA-(16-1-2003) The premier women’s sailing event the Rolex International Women’s Keelboat
Championship takes place at Annapolis Yacht Club September 27 October 3,
2003 in Annapolis, Md.
This is the 10th biennial running of a regatta that
attracts over 60 international teams that often include Rolex Yachtswomen of
the Year, Olympic medallists, world champions and America’s Cup veterans.
The Rolex IWKC encourages women of all ages with varying levels of
experience to compete. As in the past, a series of worldwide `Road to Rolex
adult clinics will precede the event. The Next Step program is designed for
12-16-year-old young-women to introduce them to keelboat sailing.
The
regatta’s five-day, 11-race format in J/22s is preceded by a day for
registration/measurement and a day for practice. Nightly social events will
culminate with the traditional Rolex gala and awards presentation. A Rolex
timepiece will be awarded to the winning boat.
